Anarya Scout Barber

Born July 26th at 5:14 p.m. She was induced a week before she was due and still weighed in at a healthy 9 lbs. 10 oz. and was 21 1/2 in. long. It took us a few days to choose which name we would give this baby girl. Anarya (ah-NAR-ee-ah) is the name for Tuesday in the elvish language that J.R. Tolkein made up for his elves in the Lord of the Rings. Scout is the little girl in To Kill A Mockingbird. Anarya is a sweet baby. Everyone is loving her and they just don't get enough time with her!

Keddi became emotional as she held her new little sister. It was very sweet.

Shinara's 7th b-day

Shinara chose pink cake and chocolate ice cream. She wanted purple frosting with yellow writing. Unfortunately, the Wilson's were out of town for her birthday but we had celebrated Payten's, Shinara's and Braeden's july birthday's before they left. She got a transformer from them and she loves it. From us she got a notebook for drawing in, a large pad of blank paper for watercolor painting, new paints, bakugans and a new MP3 player. Like Mardi she is easy to please and is enjoying her gifts.

The night before her birthday she told Joel that she didn't feel different when she turned 6 and wondered if she would feel different turning 7. The next morning she reported that she did not feel different. So far she is enjoying 7 and has decided it is her new lucky number.

Our brush with the famous

I enjoy watching the end of American Idol seasons. Except for the season that Clay Aiken was in and the one with David Archeletta. I watched those from about half way through the season and because I liked them so well, I didn't miss a week!

David wrote a book and was promoting it at our nearby Deseret Book store. So, I took the big girls. (Thank heaven the little ones were still in school, they would not have been happy.) There was a small stage set up and he sang a couple of songs before going back inside to start the book signing. It was hot that day and we weren't interested in buying a book so the girls decided it was good enough to have been as close as we were and to get to hear him sing. But before we left, we went into the book store for some "shopping" and we watched him for a while. I made my purchase and we got in the van to head home. But we passed some friends in line and the girls asked if they could stay with them. Their mom said she'd bring them home for me. The girls didn't say two words to him but Mardi did some recording on her new ipod.

4th of July 2010

Since the 4th was on the sabbath this year, we did not hold to our usual traditions. We went to the Wilson's on the 3rd to swim and bbq.

And on the 4th we "celebrated" out in the street in front of our house. We did poppers. Which Mardi swept up after we were done.

We did some sparklers which Shinara had decided she was a bit nervous about last year but took some this year anyway. When all was said and done she decided she likes them again.
And watched some fireworks too. There is a casino nearby and they had a display so we were able to see them as we stood out front.

We also got to have guests that night and for part of the next day. The Whitakers came from New Hampshire for a wedding in Utah. On the 5th we took them over to the Hills to go swimming and bbq with the Hones. The Hills were out of town but had invited us to use their pool if we liked. It was a good day. But we still had some sunburns and poor Keddi had to have aloe for about 3 days.

1st Grade Music Performance

If you recognize these costumes, it's because even Mardi did this performance with some of these costumes. Each of them was different but the costumes have been the same ones. Mardi was a starfish for hers, Keddi was a fish and baby Baluga whale and Shinara was an octopus. I really should include some of the video I took because Shar is quite the performer. But blogger is always difficult for me when I try to include video and I am not up for stress right now.
