Fashion Show Hair

In the first show, many of the girls had their hair done as if they were going to the prom. So for the second show, Tersa decided she needed to do a little something more to her hair. I did her make up, but she came up with this. She had always been quite creative with hair. Starting at around age 7 or 8.
The fashion shows were put on by a new bridal store in town that makes modest wedding and prom dresses. They invited girls to be part of these shows and gave 10% discounts on a purchase. (Not enough for me. The dresses can cost up to $700?! And the cheapest $130) They gave them just a little instruction for modeling the dresses and it was obvious the girls were untrained. But what fun to dress up in some of these really pretty dresses.

Fashion Shows

Tersa went to the first Fashion Show with a friend in her class at church. I didn't make it to that one, but Melanie sent me the pictures she took. Gabby is in the middle and Krista (the one Tersa went with) is on the end.

These are two of the dresses she got to wear. At the first show she also wore black dresses. One short and one long. At the second show she wore a long black and then this long purple. The dresses are made for older girls, and even with some altering, her black dress was hard to come up stairs in. I didn't get a good picture of it. And the other Fashion show was on a stage and the audience was far away so pictures from that show were not great ones.

Valentines

Keddi's teacher went all out and had several projects or games going on during their 1 1/2 hour party. They stayed at their own tables, but were free to stand and wander a bit.  
Ms. Vega, on the other hand, has really simplified the "parties" that she does for the kindergarten kids. But they don't know any different, so they enjoyed themselves anyway.
This is what Joel left for his girls across the mantle the night before Valentines. Chocolates and cards for all. And for this picture, I put his up with the rest of ours. (Well, his card. He doesn't get chocolate. Jipped!)

Reflections Award

Tersa first entered the "Reflections " contest in 1st or 2nd grade. Mardi as well. They always wrote stories, but Tersa did enter a drawing one year and a photograph collage another year, along with her story. The girls have won several trophy's over the years. Keddi entered this year with a drawing and a song. The drawing I helped her come up with. The theme this year was "Wow..." Yeah. She wanted to draw princesses so her title was "Wow, I got to meet Ariel, Snow White, Belle, Cinderella and Aurora and have my picture taken with them!" But this is not what she got her third place trophy for. Her music teacher encouraged her to write and submit a song. So, she did. I was not very encouraging. I didn't know what it would take to get it put together and we only had two weeks notice before it was due. Well, I know the song was about Christmas and she sang it for me several times to practice and I filled out the form, but she did most of it pretty much on her own. What does mom know!
On the night of the award ceremony, there is a dinner held for all who signed up for PTA and their families. We got a note telling us she would receive an award and we didn't tell her. So she was very pleasantly surprised when they called her name. And I was glad she had turned in that song. Poor baby had been to the dentist that morning though to have her teeth sealed and the dentist discovered a hole that needed filling first. So, I kept her home from school to recoup but as you might be able to tell in the picture, she was still a bit swollen and not 100% even by that night.

Shinara got the "Roadrunner Citizenship Award" this month. These other two cute girls are friends in her class who also received the award this month.
The Vice Principal handed out the awards and the children had their pictures taken with the principal this time.
