Chicken Pox

Do you remember those? This is a picture taken in 1998 (I'm putting my pictures from that year in the computer that's why you are seeing so much from then.) when Mardi had the chicken pox. Could have been a great picture of the three of them if Mardi hadn't turned her head!

Another blast from the past

As summer approaches (for Vegas) I thought I would post some more pictures from 1998 of Tersa and Mardi. These were taken at the daycare when we lived in Provo.
Tersa's ankle got landed on when she was at a birthday party on Sat. so she stayed home from school yesturday to rest it. Other than that, things have been pretty routine for us. We have been enjoying unusually cool weather for April. And except for the wind that has been quite nice.

Easter Dresses

One of our favorite Easter traditions is getting new dresses. Here is the line up for this year. Tersa's was not quite what one thinks of for Easter and she did not pick it out, I did. But it was beautiful on her and with the pink underlay, it was pretty. Keddi and Shar picked out theirs (most often they are the ones who go shopping with me) and I knew I couldn't miss when I found this red one for Mardi. She looks fabulous in red and it is still her favorite color. (Poor Keddi still looks so pale from having been sick!)

Breakthrough!

I have Easter dress pictures to post but Keddi still hasn't had hers taken so I will wait until I have one of her to post them. But I thought I would tell you of a breakthrough we had with Shinara.
Shinara was a baby that refused to take a pacifier (and oh how I tried to force one on her). But I believe that Shinara discovered her thumb in the womb and was too content with that to try anything different. It has been a concern for us since she has shifted her teeth out a bit over the years and since I wasn't sure how to break a child of thumb sucking. Somehow, she developed a wart on the thumb she favors and with the sucking, she created a monster that at one point began to bleed. She had a bit of a freak when she saw it bleeding and I had to wrap it to allow it to heal before we could even put medicine on to get rid of the wart. So after a few days of having it wrapped and telling her not to suck the other thumb (because she is a big girl or we don't want another owie getting on that thumb too) the habit was broken!! And the wart seems to be gone. No medicine. Hmmm.

Egg Hunting

Our tradition is to have our Easter Egg hunt on the Saturday before Easter. And the girls know that I make up the baskets and Joel hides the eggs. It's not that we have any objection to the Easter bunny, it's just that I never made an effort to include it in our traditions. Since we have lived in this house, most of our hunts were held at the "park" at the back of our neighborhood as was the case this year. Well, not for Keddi. After the other three were finished with their hunt, they came home and hid some eggs in the front yard for Keddi to find. She worked up enough strength to dress before we left and after returning home she asked me to fix her hair (which she had to sit for because she went terribly pale while standing.) It doesn't take long to find 11 eggs but she stayed out in the yard to inspect her basket. Since then it seems her health has finally improved with no more surprises.

Easter Eggs

We dyed eggs last night after dinner and although Keddi had been sick all day again, she did not want to be left out of the fun. She'd fallen asleep on the living room right before we were even finished with dinner so she seemed ready to dye eggs when the time came. The little girls had four a piece and the older had five. But after she finished her eggs she went back to the couch and laid down. The older girls decided that they like to eat boiled eggs a year or two ago so we started coloring eggs at our house again. We'd gone a few years without doing it.

Spring Break

This week is our Spring Break and wouldn't you know that one of us would get sick?! Keddi woke up feeling bad Tuesday and ended up vommitting and having 102 fever. She was doing better yesturday but is still sick. We were going to do some fun things and now we are just hoping that she will get better by the time we do our Easter egg hunt on Saturday. We also have a lot to do on Sunday for the Easter program.

Look ma no training wheels!

While we were hanging out Sat, night I turned around and found Tersa helping Keddi learn to ride a bike with no training wheels. Keddi decided that it is hard work and she wants to try with her smaller bike. But I appreciated Tersa helping her without having to be asked by me. There are lots of children that know how to ride already but it isn't Keddi's fault. It never occurred to me to decide when is a good time and I don't think it occurred to her until recently that others ride bikes without those little wheels sticking out the side. She is like Tersa in that she is driven to do like the big kids do. I'm sure she'll be up and runnin on her own in no time.

Conference Weekend

I love Conference weekend. I love the talks and getting to see how the Prophet looks like he's doing. I love staying in my pajamas all day on Sunday. I love that my two oldest girls sat in the living room for the entire sunday morning session of their own choosing. And I loved spending much of Sat. with the Wilson's. We usually watch one or two saturday sessions together. This year they came to our house. We ate dinner together after the 2nd session and Joel and Justin went to priesthood session together. While they were gone we hung out in the front "yard" and I took some pictures.

Friends

On Friday we were invited by the Flinders to go play pool with them. They also invited our good friends the Wilsons. After pool we went to Chili's for some appetizers, desert and laughter that we just hadn't gotten enough of.
(I took the picture of the women. Not a great one of me and it's also my excuse for almost cutting Jen out. The thing is, it took me four or five tries to get this. I'd ment to have Joel take a good one but forgot.)
