Roadrunner Keddi

At the girls school they have a program called the Roadrunner recognition. (The roadrunner is their mascott. Gotta love living in the desert!) The teachers choose children from their class who exhibited "good citizen" traits through the month and they are recognized at an assembly. Yesturday was our first one and as is the Barber tradition, Keddi was recognized in our very first month of school. She was so proud of herself though I don't think she really understood why she was up front. She thought it was great when Shinara and I were sitting in the back as she was brought in to the multipurpose room. Her face lit up after Joel's arrival and when Tersa and Mardi filed in with their classes, life was good. She's a smart girl and is loving both the academic and social aspects of school. Several of the boys in her class have said she or what she was wearing were beautiful and she tells me the name of a new friend almost daily. She's a Diva!

Build a Bear

Have you ever been? Years ago the Moore's introduced us to this fabulous establishment when they purchased a gift certificate for Mardi's b-day. Now we're hooked. Tersa and Mardi got their first ones together. Keddi got to make her first when she was three and this year was Shinara's year. Of all the girls, we probably could have gotten away with not having her make one but just buying the baby animals they sell. Anyway, you help stuff the animal and put a heart in it. (You can choose a sound box too but Mom has always been sucessful in pushing past that part.) Then you air bathe it, brush and comb it, pick out some clothes and finally name it. Which is why I wait until the girls have the concept of naming. Shinara named hers "Palm." Why you may ask. Who really knows! Except that she loves to play on her dad's palm pilot?! That is the only connection I could make.

More Duck Creek

Here are some more pictures of our Duck Creek visit. Keddi enjoyed playing in a stack of wood and found some pieces that were tough to move. Tersa and Mardi are posing at an interesting formation that was on the path for a hike we went on to Cascade Falls. Not everyone in our party went. Just me and the two oldest girls and Calvin Hone and his two oldest. (Caleb-7 and Sage-4) And Shar enjoyed the novelty of a tire swing.

Bug glasses

This picture was taken after we had attended a Spring Festival. (Easter). They have games set up all over and the kids win prizes (regardless of performance.) Tersa didn't play the game that the girls won these glasses at.

Grandma Brady

Today is the 1 year mark since Grandma Brady was burried. She died on the 17th. But it was the funeral in Bountiful that we got to participate in. She has been in my heart and thoughts a lot this week. Joel and I miss her dearly. Time has made things a bit easier. I don't cry everytime I think of her now. She is a funy lady. One who loves her family. She knew what was right and did it. And she always remembered our birthday.

Fun in the Mountains

There we go!
A few weeks ago we were invited to Duck Creek, Utah to stay the weekend in a cabin with some friends in the ward. So, we went with the Wellborns (whose cabin it was) and The Hones and had a great time! The weather was cooler and we enjoyed some hiking and sight seeing, sand, hammocks, tire swing, s'mores and good company.

Well, I have tried two other times to add to our blog, but it is no longer doing what it did the first time. Please be patient as I try to work this all out and it should become more interesting and fun to visit.
